A 1340cc inline 4-cylinder fuel injection, DOHC liquid-cooled engine with 16 valves and twin swirl combustion chambers (TSCC) offers a great power.

Lightweight aluminum alloy pistons with a compression ratio of 12.5:1 are used for maximum performance in all connditions. Hard, soft chromium nitride Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating on the upper compression and oil control rings on each piston reduces the friction, while the improvement of the sealing cylinder.

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) cylinder coating improves heat transfer, durability and ring.

Lightweight titanium valves allow the use of valve springs, and a high lift light while maintaining a precise control of the valve. Iridium spark plugs are used for high combustion efficiency.

The Hayabusa engine is powered by Suzuki SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) fuel injection system with two 12-hole, fine spray injectors per cylinder and ram air intake chamber of a large volume.
